Holiday Home Side Step Card

Hosted my last 2014 Connect Through Stampin' Up! Craft evening last night - was so much fun. The reaction from the ladies when I presented this (Janine Tinklenberg inspired) card to them was priceless! "Wow!" "I am going to make this card tonight?" (as in, "you really think I am able to make this complicated looking card?") Yes, yes, YES! The ladies rose to the challenge and not only did they make their cards, they even put their own spin and design on it. So, I proudly present their work of art (except Irene's because I forgot to take a picture of hers before she left): Rachel's Block: Ana's Block: Margarita's Block: This is the side view of the side step card. Don't you think this Holiday Home stamp and die bundle (#137631) set is simply made for this kind of card? My classes resume again in January 2015: Friday 16th January, 2015 - 7.30pm $10 per person Saturday 17th January, 201...

Stamp Nation Aussie/Kiwi Tic Tac Toe Swap

Here finally is the card I made for the Stamp Nation Swap in February, which I mentioned here . Tip #1: Effective use of card stock that will be covered up See that bit of card stock underneath the Baja Breeze blue layer? It's not pretty under there, it has the "holes" left behind from the two butterfly punch outs and a mini circle punch out which was used in the Build a Brad (retired product that I have a stash of). The butterflies then became embellishments on the card to add interest. Tip #2: Tying in the project The butterflies aren't plain Daffodil Delight butterflies, they have the details from the Hello Doily (#128610 WM or #122847 CM) stamp image. As does the circle used in the Build a Brad. So these yellow embellishments "belong" to the card because they have the same detail as the subtle image on the background of the card. To complete this card, I also stamped the Hello Doily image on the inside of the card, which you can see peeking...

Faux Water Colouring with SU Reinkers

This was my CASE attempt and to put to practice what Chupa (Iwona Palamountain) taught us at Stamp Nation this month. Heat embossed the image (I used the Hydrangea image from SU's retired set Because I Care) with white emboss powder on Whisper White card stock. Using reinkers (here I used Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding and So Saffron), colour with regular paintbrush the image, going over the outline for that watercolour effect. I then used the large framelit from Apothecary Accents to cut out the tag shape and added the white twine. See that Woodgrain embossed piece? That was salvaged from a failed watercolouring experiment. You wouldn't know that, if I hadn't told you, would you? I turned that piece over, and splatter the ink (the above colours plus Crisp Cantaloupe) on - yes, you read that alright...just flick the brush with ink over the paper to get the random splotches of ink. Messy, but F.U.N.! Then I put through the Big Shot with the woodgrain emboss folder. I...

Carrie's Birthday Card

A birthday card to go with the handmade gift box set for Carrie . The flower is from the Blossom punch, minus one petal. It didn't end up being used in a previous project but found its home here :-) I am loving the colour combination: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip and Calypso Coral. The button on the flower is actually made from the Simply Pressed Clay. I didn't stamp on the inside of this card as I needed all the room I can get to write in a special message :-) but I did use the same DSP pattern on the envelope so I tick off the box for co-ordination.  Thanks for stopping by, bless you all!

Summer Silhouettes 2012-14 In Colour I

In just a little under three years since I signed up as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I have managed to collect quite a few stamp sets. There are sets that I have hardly used, and you know, about all of them, I would say I haven't used as much as I would like to. It is a little hard as my stamping time is usually restricted to a start time of 10pm. Anyway, the point I want to make is this: I am making an effort to get as much mileage as I can from each stamp set that I own. So that could mean this blog might just be very boring, always showcasing the same stamp sets. Yet it could be inspiring and helpful perhaps to show the versatility of the stamps. On the right side of this blog, there is a section for Labels. It is sorted alphabetically so if you scroll down you'll see the list of Stamp sets and next to each name is a number, which indicates how many blog posts have been tagged with that stamp set. As I write now, I am pondering whether to make the goal quite specif...

StampNation Summer1

This week, over at StampNation , we are celebrating a Summer Kick Off Party. Well, the northern hemisphere members are enjoying sunshine...whereas us Southern Hemisphere peeps are enjoying the thoughts and cheeriness of summer. The challenge for day 1 of the Summer Kick Off Party (on 21st June) was to make a card inspired by the colours you see in Summer. When I think of summer, I think of sun, sand and surf, and camping. So the summer colours for me are blue, yellow and green. I manage to incorporate the blue and yellow in my card, but the green didn't quite co-ordinate with the rest of the card. There's something about the simplicity of this card that just makes me smile each time I see it. I have even restrained myself from using any jewel rhinestone, and there are no pop up dimensionals either!

Bright Betsy's Blossoms

Just checking what it looks like when I post a photo. This is one of the Make and Take projects for my May classes. The card is inspired by Connie Stewart, a well known SU demonstrator in the US.
