Easter Card with Hearts Collection Framelits

What's a gal to do when she goes to make Easter Cards and realises she doesn't actually have any Easter stamps? Oh to be sure, I have sentiment stamps that says "Happy Easter" but I don't have any egg or chickadees or cross image stamps! Have you ever thought how the designer of a card came up with the idea of her/his card? Well, here you go...you're about to hear a commentary of my thought process in creating this card :-) In an attempt to think outside the box, I began to consider what Easter means to me, and what is it I wish for my Easter cards to do for the recipients? The phrase, and song , "Unstoppable Love" keeps popping up in my mind. As I contemplate the phrase, the more I felt it truly does sum up for me what Easter means. It is the complete demonstration of God's unstoppable love for us - a love which did not stop when Jesus died on the cross, for He resurrected, and with His resurrection, this love continues to work inside ...

Flower Patch Sweater Weather DSP Stationery Set

Wow, it's the end of the month already? Hmm, I can't let the month end without sharing about this stationery set which I was inspired to make for a friend.  Three convincing reasons for my making the effort to make this set: 1) My friend is American, and while the thing she loves about being in New Zealand is me (ok, ok, I am not the only reason - ha! - among many other reasons), I know she misses her family and her life in the States. So over there, her birthday would be in Autumn, not Spring as it is in New Zealand. Hence the reason I chose to use this retired (but right now on clearance, so you can either purchase through emailing me or click here ) Sweater Weather DSP which screams Autumn colors to me.  2) She's a fan of Charles Dickens, and I love, not only the friendship we have, but also the friendship between her children and mine. The perfect stamp for it therefore is one that is from the From My Heart stamp set.  3) She shares my love ...

Perfect Pennants Hearts Framelits Itty Bitty Accents

As a demonstrator, we get the Impressions publication every two months from Stampin' Up. These are jam packed with ideas and training tips. This month I have been challenged by one of the articles about not neglecting the poor old envelope. It is so true that envelopes often take a back seat. The dear humble envelope can be so much more - just like the present itself is dressed up with a fancy package, so can the handmade card be dressed up with its envelope. It is another opportunity to say something about the recipient of your lovingly handmade card. So I made a special effort with the project for my "Connect through Creativity" class this month. What do you think? I would write the recipient's name on the heart die cut. The envelope can be re-used simply by removing the heart die cut which is only clipped to the clothespin. Then out comes the card from inside the envelope: The lighting is all funny but this next one is more true to the colours. Don...

Just Sayin' Heart Framelits

A birthday card for a friend - not a style that I usually make but one which I like, and hopefully I  will gain confidence to make more of. I started with the negative of the heart cut out from the Heart Framelits and the cute banner piece - both were discarded pieces from previous projects. I really like those two colours (Pool Party and Calypso Coral) on the Naturals Ivory card stock base. I looked through the scrap pile and eventually fished out the retired Lucky Limeade DSP piece. I cut off a piece on the right and turn it over to use the polka dots side. Now I was wanting to participate in the current Create With Connie and Mary sketch challenge  however I couldn't get it to work, and I wanted to finish the card tonight :-) Ha, as it turned out, I just checked, the challenge was over anyway. Nevertheless, that sketch served as a starting point, till I finally settled on the above design. One of the questions I get asked by newbies to Stampin' Up! is if I have to d...
