More Painted Petals Double Display Cards

Ana's card I know, I know, this is the third post on these Double Display Cards , however, my class attendees did such a wonderful job and they all look so different, I just have to share! Julie's Card Rachel's card There was one more, but I am missing photo of Pili's card! So there you go, one design, same set of patterned paper used, but such amazing difference with a change of colours. I love that everyone left the Friday's class with very different looking cards :-) Looking forward to Tuesday's class to see end result which will be more variants of this same card.

Double Display Card with Painted Petals #2

Just wanna showcase the cards made by attendees to my Friday class last Friday :-) This one here is on the ever classic Cherry Cobbler. And this is Sandra, the creator of the featured card for today's blog post :-) What you wouldn't have guessed is that this was her first time stamping and her first experience with Stampin' Up! products!  And now the good news is that I am repeating this class on Tuesday so I'd love you to come join us: Thanks so much for stopping - I hope you are inspired one way or another :-)

Painted Petals Double Display Card

This was the card that we made at my Friday Stamp and Connect Night class. Just in time for Mother's Day on 10th May. As you can see, though, this card doesn't have to read "Happy Mother's Day". Mother's Day celebration is a good opportunity to send a card to someone who has been a significant person in our lives. Or perhaps send a card of encouragement to a friend who is a Mum. I reckon all Mums could do with some form of encouragement and words of affirmation. I certainly do, anyway! Now this Double Display Card is a fancy fold card. This is what you get when you open up the card, after removing the butterfly clipped belly band: Seriously, who would not be wowed to receive such a card? I'd feel so special if I got this card! So if you miss my Friday class, I am repeating this on Tuesday 21st April 7.30pm at Te Atatu Peninsula, so let me know if you would like to RSVP for the class. Instructions to score and cut the base is from here htt...

Welcome Baby Girl Cards

These were inspired by Monica Gale, a UK demonstrator. You can see her card  here . Quite a few families in our local homeschool group are having new additions this year so I will be looking more closely at all the welcome baby stamp sets from Stampin Up. When I made these cards, I had no current baby stamp sets, hence I pulled out the retired Curvy Verses from storage. I love that sentiment: "One baby, many happy hearts." So true! Just a quick tip: while I like to use up every inch of the card stock, sometimes, when I punch out a shape, like the flower from the Blossom Punch, I keep in mind that I could use the "negative" side (see pic below) as well as the positive (the Blossom shape itself). For example, I could layer the negative over a piece of DSP or as in these baby cards, I used it as a matting layer. Thank you for visiting today.

Summer Silhouettes Polka Dot Pieces Perfect Pennants

Does this card seem familiar? It is my CASE of one of the projects I got to make at the recent Auckland Party Time event. I haven't (yet) got the Choose Happiness stamp set, so I set about a challenge for myself to CASE the Kraft Grid line Journal cover (see below) with the stamp sets I already have. Original Make & Take from event: Well, I can't stop at just one card, so I also came up with the card below in a softer colour palette. It is also another excuse to use the Good Greetings stamp set, which, until the 31 October,  is the Hostess' when she host a party with the qualifying sales. What do you think?  I hope you found it helpful to see how a card can be CASED, using stamps that you already have. It's no guarantee though, that you will not crave (all the more even) for the very stamp set you don't have that was used in the original project :-) Oh, that was quite a mouthful, lol!

She Believed Framed Art

Miss Resourceful K10 came bounding in today, announcing excitedly, "I've got to do some stamping today." She had just received a journal from her dad's cousin and on the front cover is the quote which she remembered I have a stamp of. We set to play after our families' weekly science get together. I talked her into making a framed art that Aunt A could have on her dresser to remind her of Miss K. Once she decided on the patterned paper to use, the rest of the design came together fairly easily. Except the decision of whether to use butterflies or birds or flowers or a combination. I'm happy to say Miss K left this evening with not only the framed art but also a thank you card. The Wisteria Wonder layer, if you hadn't noticed, is the "negative" of the flowers used in the framed art. Well, I just noticed that one of the leaves was in the wrong green colour - ha! Kinda goes with the crooked sentiment then - which you probably wouldn't ha...

Scalloped Tag Topper Punch Closure Card

I am participating in another card swap over at Stamp Nation , so I thought the recent trend of the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch Closure Card would be ideal for this Fancy Fold card swap. But I changed my mind (hahaha, SN members, for a minute there did you think I was giving away the surprise?!). Instead, we made this at my May's Class last Friday evening. Gosh, can't believe a week has already flown by. I meant to put it up on here as soon as everyone had left, but obviously I got very side tracked. Fellow SU Demo over the ditch Tanya Bell shared an excellent tutorial on how to make this card. I wanted to show case the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (#132996) from our Occassions Mini Catalogue. This is a pad of 48 sheets (4 each of double sided 11.4x16.5cm) that are acid and lignin free.  If you have trouble cutting up your nice DSPs then you'll love these :-) This is available until 30 June 2014, for $14.50 NZD. The greeting and that cute little owl are f...

Secret Garden Card In A Box

It has been a busy February in that we had another camping trip, and I was also trying to sort out our homeschool curriculum this year. I got some crafting time in but I couldn't feature a project yet on the blog as it is for a Stamp Nation Swap. When the swaps come back to me, I will not only be able to blog about the card I made, but you, my blog readers, will have a feast for the eyes as I will show you all 14 cards the other participating swappers would have made! So watch this space.... Today's card I am a little late in featuring. It was made by Irene at my monthly class in February. Inspired by my sample, Irene took on the challenge in the class to make this one for her friend having a new baby. A posie of flowers, how cute!

Never Ending Card

Today's card is a fancy fold card known as a Never Ending Card. It is sooooo much fun to play with this card. The above shot is the front cover of the card. It opens up from the centre to reveal the next page/side as below: It's the purple page - the recipient of this card, my lovely niece's favourite colour. You then flip open the middle two square panels to reveal the third page/side as below: The reason for the occasion, and the card, was to celebrate her turning 16 years old, hence the 16 candles. I wanted it colourful, but would have trouble choosing the colours if it weren't for SU!'s In Colours range. SU! releases a new In-Colour range every year - there are 5 co-ordinating colours. This year's range, just released this month, are as yummy as they sound: Baked Brown Sugar Crisp Cantaloupe Pistachio Pudding Strawberry Slush Coastal Cabana Finally, you flip open from the centre to reveal the final page/side. Then you flip ...

StampNation Summer1

This week, over at StampNation , we are celebrating a Summer Kick Off Party. Well, the northern hemisphere members are enjoying sunshine...whereas us Southern Hemisphere peeps are enjoying the thoughts and cheeriness of summer. The challenge for day 1 of the Summer Kick Off Party (on 21st June) was to make a card inspired by the colours you see in Summer. When I think of summer, I think of sun, sand and surf, and camping. So the summer colours for me are blue, yellow and green. I manage to incorporate the blue and yellow in my card, but the green didn't quite co-ordinate with the rest of the card. There's something about the simplicity of this card that just makes me smile each time I see it. I have even restrained myself from using any jewel rhinestone, and there are no pop up dimensionals either!
