Stampin' With Michelle Pepper

This is one of the Gorgeous Grunge cards I made for this month's Friday Night Stampin' Session. I said on my Facebook business page that we are doing a product feature on Gorgeous Grunge, and asked my FB viewers if they can imagine the possibilities of this stamp set from Grunge style (as expected) to the feminine, christmas to the play school? Can you? I have used all five of the new In-Colours, which I mentioned in my previous post . And can you spot one other new product from this year's catalogue that I have used? It is the Alphabet Rotary stamp, which I used to stamp the "Happy Birthday" sentiment repeatedly on the circle behind the "21". How versatile is this card? Woo-hoo! It's your birthday! Woo-hoo! You did it! Woo-hoo! You are engaged! Woo-hoo! Congratulations! Woo-hoo! You have a new baby! I love cards like this - you can have them on hand, then when the time comes, just put the right sentiment on it and away you go. This card also shows ways to use up scraps of pretty paper using the Owl Builder punch (#118074) and the Banner punch (which was a SAB offering but if you missed out then, you'll be delighted to know it is in the new catalogue therefore available for sale from 1 July in the South Pacific). Even the strip of Pool Party was a scrap that I had saved up from previous projects. I stamped the "Happy" using the Alphabet Rotary stamp (another sneak peek from the new catalogue!) I love using the Circle Treat Cups for a fun and novelty card. Lego, chocolate candy and money... all that a 4 year old really wants right? Hope so! I actually had a Gruffalo book ordered but it hasn't arrived in time, so that will have to be Christmas present :-) The coins are $1 coin and there are four of them, one for each year of age. That's a tradition we do in our family, now I'm just extending it to the extended family :-) I actually made quite a few major mistakes in the process of making this card, but all is well that ends well. Hence the inside panel uses a DSP that doesn't coordinate with the DSP panel on the front of the card. See the tabs? You pull those to reveal the trap door to access the contents in the treat cups. Clever huh? Novel, surely! I had such a lot of space left at the top of the front panel too, so I search and search through my stamp sets and you know what? I don't have a big enough, one line, birthday greeting! So now I'...

I have combined several challenges with this card. Firstly, the sketch is from Paper Players Challenge this week. The main colour Orange was influenced by StampNation's Summer Kick Off Party Day 2 challenge which was "Hot, hot, HOT!" H, being for Heat Embossing, O for Orange and T for Twine. Can you spot all the elements?  Oh, and did you notice the use of Washi tape on this card? That's a sneak peek of the new product offering in the 2013-14 catalogue which goes live on 2 July! Washi Tape TIP: adhere the washi tape on plain white coloured paper if you are going to place it over a busy background. This way, the design (in this case, the yellow gingham pattern) will be clearly visible.  When I had finished, I saw that the card also meets StampNation's Challenge #89 , which was to mix and match at least 3 different patterns on the card.  I learned from Noell Hyman a principle on mixing patterned papers.
