Embossing Vellum and Decorative Masks

Read on to find out why this card gave me joy indeed!   Click here for the supplies list So back in October, at our team meeting (Online as our region was in lockdown then) we had this fun challenge. There were only four of us at the meeting, so we created a challenge where each person gave an instruction. We chatted through the meeting while each tried to complete the challenge before he meeting ended. It was such a fun and neat experience. Think Masterchef, only it is making a card!  My big takeout from that experience? It really is ok not to overthink things! So the instructions were: Add some heat embossing Add a christmas or birthday sentiment Add some sponging Add a vellum layer Well, it was a good opportunity to see what I already have in the #scrapoffthedesk pile - I rummaged and found the gold embossed wreath on black, the white embossed "joy" on red and the embossed vellum  with the Merriest Frames folder. The only thing I added to pull all these elements together i

Video Tutorial: Twist and Pop Card with What A Year Memories and More

I am 21 years married to Mr Pepper! Click here for list of supplies I have loved the What A Year Memories and More card pack from the moment I saw it. I was going to link to previous cards that I have made with the fun printed cards in this pack but realised I never did blog about those! Next post then... There are so many happy and cute printed 4"x6" and 3"x4" cards in this pack that I thought would be so fun to use in a fancy fold card known as Twist and Pop. It so happens they lend themselves so well to a contemporary lovey dovey card so I made it to give to Mr P for our 21st wedding anniversary. Click here for list of supplies   I reckon this would make an awesome Valentine's Day and Birthday card too. The other idea I have is instead of pretty cards, you could use 3"x4" photos, thus making it like a mini album card.  The Twist and Fancy Fold card always light up a recipient's face as they open the card because they find something so unexpect

Encircled In Friendship

You've got to love it when a card comes together fairly quickly! Click here for the list of supplies Have you heard of CASE? It stands for Copy and Selectively Edit. Yes, in the world of crafting, there's no shame in copying! I love CASEing and see how different a card can look when you vary the elements - different stamps, different colours, changing the orientation...you can pretty much edit anything or nothing!   For this card, I had CASEd a beautiful card given to me by a dear friend and fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I love Susan Wong's work, and often take inspiration from the projects she shares. So, if you are a beginner stamper, and/or if you are not confident, then I encourage you to look at the works of others, and pay special attention to the projects you are drawn to. CASE their work. As you keep stamping, you will find that you grow in confidence and likely to develop your own style.  Have a look at the original card and the CASEd card below.     I did

Hand-Penned Petals Thanks

Here's a sweet Thanks card made with the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set.   Click here for the supplies list   One of the joys of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is being part of a team of demonstrators! (Let's have a chat if you are wondering what the benefits are of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator or if you are ready, you can join my team here .) At a team meeting a few months ago, we made this sweet card organised by our lovely team member Suzanne Smith. I do love me a white on white card - there's something so elegant about it. The image was coloured with Stampin Blends in Fresh Freesia and Soft Succulent. The embossed feature on the side comes from the Meadow Moments Embossing Folders (#153126) pack. The little gems are from Elegant Faceted Gems (#152464) The sentiment was stamped in Memento Black then punched out using the Double Oval Punch (#154242) .  Thanks so much for stopping by today. As always, if you have any questions, I am happy to help you. Until n

Free As A Bird #GDP312

I have made today's cards to participate in the Global Design Project Challenge #312   Click here for list of supplies used   The challenge at #GDP312 this week is to CASE (copy and selectively edit) the following card by designer Madeleine Mrotzek:   I wanted to play with Free As A Bird, a stamp set that I haven't used for a long time. I also had another challenge in mind, a colour challenge from #stampinfancyfriday.        So I combined the two challenges in the first of my cards     This is a one layer card, although I did pop up the bird images. The birds were watercoloured with Coastal Cabana and Old Olive. The background was made with using the blending brush to sponge Real Red ink on a decorative mask. Did you know that this is a very effective way of adding interest to your cards? You get four decorative masks from the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks Pack (#150697) . While I have my supplies out, I decided to try a different colour combo - Misty Moonlight on Smoky Slate

Merriest Moments Bundle

Imagine you're at my drive thru window: How would you like your cards? Would you like to upsize it? Click here for the supplies list     Today I present to you three versions of the same card design using the Merriest Moments Bundle which includes stamps , dies and a hybrid embossing folder.     Have you heard of #simplestamping? When I think simple stamping, I think SIP - Stamps, Ink and Paper. It is a great concept for beginner stampers, especially when you are still building your tools and supplies. You can still create great cards with just the basics, ie stamps, ink and paper. Busy and on the go? No problem, you can make these cards too!      Stamp the various leaves in this stamp set in Real Red, Crumb Cake, and Cinnamon Cider directly on the card base down the left edge and bottom of the card. Stamp the splatter stamp in Cinnamon Cider and/or Crumb Cake. (Note, depending on how new - and therefore juicy - your ink pad is, you may need to stamp off once before stamping o

Add the dies as well, and you can create a variety of fabulous farm life scenes. I felt like I must make at least one card with the pun that is just begging to be used with this stamp set, so I also pulled out the Playful Alphabet Di

Whimsical Trees Wonderland Cards

Whimsical Trees Bundle - be still, my heart! Click here for the list of supplies used The Whimsical Trees Bundle was the first thing I ordered from the July- December 2021 Mini Catalogue. It wouldn't surprise those who know me well - I love Christmas trees!     Did you know... If you get the Starter Kit during Sale-a-bration (before end of 30 September 2021) with me , you can add this Whimsical Trees Bundle (valued at $108)* to your Starter Kit at no additional cost! That means you only need to pay $189 for $393 worth of products, and as a bonus, you also do not have to pay for shipping for it all. So if you have a long wishlist, now is a good time to get it all!     * There are also other bundles you could pick instead, as detailed below:        So, back to the cards...     There are lots going on in these avid cards, but I want to give you a little bit of an insight in the design process.  What happened? I feel like sometimes even the most experienced of us cardmakers can get a b

Delicate Dahlias One Layer Card

The showstopper of this one layer card is the hyper-realistic designs of beautiful dahlia florals.   Click here for the list of supplies   Delicate Dahlias - FREE Stamps Exclusive to Sale-a-bration August/September 2021 A One Layer Card can be quite challenging for those of us who like layers! I have used masking and dry embossing to create interest in this card design.   Masking: I punched out a Basic White heart and placed it at about the middle of the card. Then I stamped the dahlia outline image in Flirty Flamingo over it. I replaced the now stamped heart with another Basic White heart, then stamped the solid distinctive dahlia image over the top, lining it up with the outline image. Set those hearts aside for another project. You can see them in this next photo, to the right. So pretty, right? Stamp the sentiment in the middle of the dahlia, in the white heart portion. Stamp the dahlia twice more, one on either side of the middle flower.   So, normally I would adhere an embossed s

Meadow Dies #GDP309

Introducing Meadow Dies from the Annual Catalogue   Click here for the list of supplies  This week over at the Global Design Project the crew has us doing this fun colour challenge : I have kept it really simple. I die cut these three plants strategically, intending to use both the positives and the negative. The card above uses the negative, and the Pale Papaya card below, the positives: Click here for the supplies list    I love it when one process results in two cards!  I have incorporated vellum in both cards as I have quite a bit of left over strips from the Peaceful Nativity Diorama card from last year . Hmm, can you see the Wink of Stella glitter on the butterflies? I also used the splatter technique to splatter the Wink of Stella glitter on the card. I actually have a third card - because I decided to cut out some more plants for the inside of these cards. But I'm not sure I want to keep that third card with only one pop of colour so I won't include in this post. Thank
