CASology Cue: Fish

Often I get a stamp set out to play, only to then search google and pinterest for a card I'd then CASE (Copy And Share Everything). True to my nature, I often don't stick to the design in its entirety, but that's how I'd start off.

I am now at the point where I think I am ready to develop further. I think participating in challenges might just be the thing to stretch me, and, to help me spend less time on the computer browsing to more time actually creating the cards I enjoy making and giving.

So I spent some time one evening looking at many challenge blogs and websites, and have marked a few that I'd like to participate in on a regular basis. Today, I get to share with you my first card challenge. It feels good to start on this journey.

Today's card is for this week's CASology challenge, with the cue word "Fish".

I don't have any fish stamps, but I do have the Stampin' Up!'s Happy Whale Clearlits Die (#129403). With 4 beautiful boy blessings, I figured there has to be a place for a whale die in the craft toolbox. Well, it has been sitting in the toolbox, not having seen the light of day at all, so I was excited that my first card challenge was already helping me get my A into G. My 9 and 7 year old boys argue that a whale is not a fish, but I believe that the cue word is just that, a cue. It doesn't actually mean you have to have a fish on the card.

I also got out the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack (#126187) to create the waves. I have left the greeting out as I couldn't quite decide whether this will be a birthday card to a soon to be 5 year old twin, or a "Thanks a ton!" card. In any case, I don't have the co-ordinating Oh, Whale! stamp set (#129132 CM, #129129 WM).

My soon-to-be 4 year old had been requesting to make cards, but life gets busy...anyway, he got to make one too.

Then before I knew it, he had "written" in it to his friend. I had to tell myself not to be disappointed, but to see that his joy in creating the card was the treasure, not what he does with it after :-)

Well, welcome aboard! We're so happy you found CASology and chose us as your very first card challenge! :)

I think your whale card is well within the "fish" boundaries and, like you said, a cue is just a springboard for your creativity and you can go wherever it takes you! Love your adorable card! The pierced waves are a really nice touch!!

Thanks so much for joining us this week! :)

Wow, so glad you chose CASology as your first card challenge ever! You are off to an amazing start, too...what a beautifully CAS card using such pretty complimentary colors!

Please tell your son he did a fabulous job, too. And don't worry about what happens to the card afterwards...it is a documented work of art! So wonderful that he enjoys this craft as much as you do!

Thanks for playing along at CASology this week!
