Blossoms in Bloom in Blackberry Bliss for Monochromatic Monday

Today's card is a #simplestamping - it's great for beginners as all you need is stamps, ink and paper.     I used the split card technique to stamp the blossoms image once then slice the card stock in half so I can make two cards. The Thanks sentiment is from the Biggest Wish stamp set. I used the Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Write Marker to flick some splatter onto one card, and the other card I kept "clean." Do you have a preference?   Why Monochromatic Monday? Did you know Stampin' Up! offers at least 50 colours for all your creative work? All with coordinating card stock, ink pads and markers, and some/most with Stampin' Blends, ribbons and embellishments. Take a look at the range of colours!   In 2022, my personal challenge is to feature one colour each week on Monochromatic Monday. I hope you will join me too, and use the #monochromaticmondaycard hashtag too. Until next post, have fun stamping!     *** For current specials, click this link https:/

Amazing Silhouettes in Soft Succulent for Monochromatic Monday

Today, my Monochromatic Monday share is this Amazing Silhouettes Card in Soft Succulent.     Here are some ideas to create interest when creating a single solid colour card (as distinguished from a monochromatic card that has a lot of a neutral colour like white. See my Monochromatic card in Flirty Flamingo here ). Adding Dry Embossing, ie use an Embossing Folder, will add instant texture to your card. I went to grab the Hive 3D Embossing Folder , but realised I haven't actually got it (doh!), so I used my retired Hexagons Dynamic Folder as a substitute instead.  I stamped the gorgeous tree image from Amazing Silhouettes in Soft Succulent ink on a 2-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of Basic White card stock. I carefully used the backing sticker of the stamp as a mask (I previously shared this trick here) over the tree image as I blended more Soft Succulent ink onto the Basic White piece. This way the tree stays white but the rest of the Basic White card is now varying shades of Soft

Friendly Hello In Fresh Freesia for Monochromatic Monday

It's Fresh Freesia for today's Monochromatic Monday share.     This is one of my go-to style for when you need a quick card. The technique is called "Rip and Flip" , only in this case, I used a trimmer to make a straight clean cut. Also, instead of flipping the bottom third of the paper I used the bottom third of another paper. The reason is because I wanted to keep this monochromatic and the flip side of the paper with the flowers was in Petal Pink. The floral image was stamped, coloured in with Stampin' Blends and then fussy cut, and popped on with some Stampin' Dimensionals. I love that sentiment from the Love of Leaves Stamp set. I am a fan of "Thinking of you" cards, because I feel they are so versatile. I can send it as a birthday card, sympathy card, a thank you card or a just saying hello card - depending on what I write inside of the card.  Thank you for visiting today xx Why Monochromatic Monday? Did you know Stampin' Up! offers at leas

Timeless Tropical for GDP Challenge #329

A tropical birthday anyone? Yes, please!   Click here for supplies     Over at @global_design_project, it's a colour challenge this week. Crafters love colour challenges because it gives us an opportunity to step outside colour combinations that we are familiar and comfortable with. This is the colour challenge #GDP329 For my card, I used Blending Brushes with the three colours to create the background. I stamped the palm trees image in Memento Black. With the help of the Stamparatus , I was able to stamp it a few times with perfect alignment each time, to get a strong black print.  I kept the card front very simple #simplestamping so I decided to add a little more fun to it! All you do is fold the front of your card base in half and attach the stamped card to that half side. This is a great easy fun fold, that gives your recipient a fun little surprise.    Well, I'm off for now, so you could go on and participate in the #GDP329 colour challenge too! Until next post, have fun s

Tasteful Touches in Flirty Flamingo for Monochromatic Monday

For Monochromatic Monday this week, my project is in Flirty Flamingo.   Click here for the list of supplies    I often use craft challenges to give me a starting point when making a card. One of my favourite challenges is Global Design Project. It is a CASE the Designer Challenge this week #GDP328 : With my chosen colour, Flirty Flamingo, I decided to use the feather image from Tasteful Touches as my focal point. I stamped the feather three times:  - with Flirty Flamingo Ink pad on Basic White card stock - with Sahara Sand Ink pad then coloured in with Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends - with Versamark Ink on Flirty Flamingo card stock.  I used the alcohol blending on vellum technique to make the Flirty Flamingo background. If you are not familiar with that technique, check out my post here . I made a very unprofessional and unedited video here too...well, we all had to start somewhere eh... Now I had splattered some Wink of Stella but unfortunately the photo hasn't picked up th

Friendly Hello For A Sympathy Card

Today, I am sharing another card made with the popular Friendly Hello stamp set.      Click here for list of supplies Most of the time, we make cards for happy occasions. Sympathy cards are usually not high on my to do list. However, it is always a good idea to have some sympathy cards handy, because well, you sometimes need one unexpectedly.  I heard the news of a dear mentor's passing yesterday. I have never met her, but I, like many in the Charlotte Mason homeschooling community globally, consider her a mentor as her tireless work and feedback and comments/responses on forums encourage, exhort, and cheer us on our journey to provide the best education we can, however imperfectly, for ourselves and our children. So the news of her passing was numbing - you know, when you can't seem to do anything as you try to cope with the unwanted news.  Making this card helped.  I couldn't get Wendi off my thoughts, so making a card in her honour seemed like a fitting thing to do.  It

Awesome Otters paired with Marbleous 6"x6" DSP

Oh these otters are just soooo adorbs!   Click here for the supplies list I am playing along today with @stampinthroughthecatalog today with #awesomeottersstampset   I stamped the same otter image three times in Memento Black Ink, and coloured with Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends. I was thinking of swimming otters having a play time so decided to pair this stamp set with the Simply Marbleous 6"x6" DSP (another Free Sale-a-bration item, as is the Awesome Otters stamp set ). I chose the Bumblebee paper as this card will be part of another Quintuple Pocket Card ( I have been making a few of these lately ).  I have also used the Tailored Tag Punch to give more focus to the sentiment (which was white embossed on Basic black card stock). Tip: Use your Stampin' Blends to make polka dots on plain card stock for added interest. I used the largest rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut the Bumblebee DSP.  I have used two different colour card stock (Smoky Slate an
