Today’s Monochromatic Monday colour featured is a Stampin’ Up! veteran colour: Real Red. Click here for the supplies list I have chosen Real Red to showcase today as it is Chinese New Year time, and red is a prominent colour in this 15 day celebration. Actually, in general, red is the prominent colour for any celebration for the Chinese. ( See last year’s Chinese New Year card I made here. ) Perhaps using Friendly Hello in Real Red is quite unexpected, but the image of the bird and flowers is reminiscent of designs you might see on the red envelopes the Chinese put money in, in lieu of gifts. Often words that are printed on the envelopes are Peace, Good Luck/Fortune, Longetivity, Prosperity…basically words of blessing. Hence I rummaged through my retired stash and found the word blessings that is part of a sentiment from the retired Friendly Phrases stamp set.
