Friendly Hello in Real Red for Monochromatic Monday

Today’s Monochromatic Monday colour featured is a Stampin’ Up! veteran colour: Real Red.   Click here for the supplies list I have chosen Real Red to showcase today as it is Chinese New Year time, and red is a prominent colour in this 15 day celebration. Actually, in general, red is the prominent colour for any celebration for the Chinese. ( See last year’s Chinese New Year card I made here. ) Perhaps using Friendly Hello in Real Red is quite unexpected, but the image of the bird and flowers is reminiscent of designs you might see on the red envelopes the Chinese put money in, in lieu of gifts. Often words that are printed on the envelopes are Peace, Good Luck/Fortune, Longetivity, Prosperity…basically words of blessing. Hence I rummaged through my retired stash and found the word blessings that is part of a sentiment from the retired Friendly Phrases stamp set. The images and sentiment are all white embossed on to Real Red card stock.  Thank you for stopping by xx Why Monochromatic M

Heart and Home Quintuple Pocket Card Loaded with Memories and More Cards

Today I am sharing another Quintuple Pocket Card, this time using the Heart and Home Designer Series Paper and filled with Heart and Home Memories and More Cards. Click here for the supplies list In my last post, I shared a video tutorial on how to make a Quintuple Pocket Card . I used this beautiful Cinnamon Cider sheet from the Heart and Home Designer Series Paper pack for the demonstration. In the video I said I would embellish it off camera - this is so I can keep the video at a reasonable length of time. Here is the finished result:   I used Meadow Dies to cut out some "weeds" in Pale Papaya and Basic White. I coloured the stem with Garden Green Stampin' Write Marker. The Basic White Label is from the Tasteful Label Dies and I had sponged on a bit of Pale Papaya. The strip of vellum is embossed with the Dotty Hearts embossing folder. Those cute little tags are also cut from the Meadow Dies. The word "Hope" is part of a sentiment in the Love of Leaves stamp

Friendly Hello Fun Fold - Quintuple Pocket Card

I love transforming paper into gift packaging. Click here for the supplies list     I made a video tutorial for you today on how to fold an entire 12"x12" sheet of Designer Series Paper to get a five pocket card. Trust me, you can do the fun fold in minutes! My video is longer only because I showed off my sample project and what I filled my pocket card with (more cards, of course!), and hopefully being thorough in my instructions so that you can have success too! Are you impressed with the bow? I was trying something new to me. Tammy Wilson, a Stampin' Up!  Artisan Design Team member, is quite famed for her pretty bows. I need more practice so look out, there might be more projects with full bows like this.   This is what my Quintuple Pocket Card look like once I filled it.   Here I pulled out the Pool Party card slightly so that the Love You sentiment is visible. Shown below are all five cards. All the cards feature papers from the Friendly Hello 12"x12" Design

Painted Poppies in Pumpkin Pie for Monochromatic Monday

It's Monochromatic Monday time! My feature colour today is Pumpkin Pie.     Click here for the list of supplies used   So in the weekend, my friends at The Crafty Carrot Collective gave us a Mystery Challenge which was to use orange, vellum, birthday sentiment and ribbon/twine. I made a card using those parameters while watching them LIVE - check out that card here . Well, with the supplies out, it made sense to carry on and make another card, especially knowing that I have a Monochromatic Monday post scheduled for today.    In the LIVE, Susan shared her "lazy stamper" tip (haha, she won't mind me calling her lazy stamper).        Those backing stickers on the cling stamps make good mask! I always keep mine anyway though I know many people throw them out. But I have never used them for masking so thank you Susan for that tip! So, position the mask in the middle of the small Very Vanilla card. Use a Blending Brush to sponge on the Pumpkin Pie ink as desired. With the B

Timeless Tropical Birthday Card #thecraftycarrotco

January is always a great time to re-stock on birthday cards. Click here for the list of supplies This was a fun card to make, and I am so proud of myself for making this card during The Crafty Carrot Collective 5th Birthday Bash Facebook live today ! We learned in that Live that it is quite normal for Krista Frattin to make 20 cards in a week - gulp! I wanna be a prolific stamper like her.  This is gonna be a bit of a plug for The Crafty Carrot Collective - I love this group. There are so many tips and tricks to learn from these ladies - why don't you check out their January Live which is free here . Besides all the stamping knowledge you pick up from them, you will just love the community vibe they have cultivated.  On the Live today, we had a Mystery Challenge: Use orange + vellum + birthday stamp + ribbon/twine My orange Hibiscus is from Timeless Tropical stamp set (#151497). I stamped it in Tuxedo Black Memento (#132708) then coloured it with Stampin' Blends in Calypso Co

A Golden Anniversary (50 years!) Card Stampin' Up! Style

My parents just celebrated their Golden Anniversary - 50 years of marriage is an incredible feat!   Click here for list of supplies   When thinking about the card to make for them, I knew I wanted to have gold in it, but beyond that anything goes. In the end it was the Global Design Project Sketch Challenge this week #GDP326 that provided me with a direction to take the card. Even though there was a lot going on on the card, it really is quite simple, in that the only techniques I used were to use dies and embossing folders. I went for a White on White card as I really wanted the Gold to feature. Now a trick I learned about making a White card is to add interest via texture. I used three different embossing folders for this card. The shimmer white layer was embossed with the Merriest Frames folder which will become available again in the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalogue. The Subtles 3D (retired) embossed circle was from my #scrapsoffthedesk pile but you can substitute it with the current Ta

Awesome Otters Valentine Notecard

Oughta, utterly, otterly - do you like playing with words?   Click here for the supplies list     This is my first card starring the Awesome Otters stamp set - Free with every order of $110 (NZD, before shipping) during the January/February 2022 Sale-a-bration period.    This card by Chris Lang caught my attention so I set about to CASE it (Copy and Selectively Edit). Trivia: Did you know that stampers love it when you copy their work? It is true, stampers love to inspire, that's why we share our work.  The heart in the background gave me the idea for making a Valentine's card. Now I don't have the heart stamp, but it is easy enough to create a stencil. I took one of the many used envelopes on my desk to cut out a hand drawn heart shape. I then used my red-ish/pink-ish Blending Brush (in other words, I hadn't washed or cleaned it from whenever I used it last. It looks like it was Polished Pink) to sponge the heart shape onto a notecard. The huggable otter was coloured w
