It's Monochromatic Monday time! My feature colour today is Pumpkin Pie.
So in the weekend, my friends at The Crafty Carrot Collective gave us a Mystery Challenge which was to use orange, vellum, birthday sentiment and ribbon/twine. I made a card using those parameters while watching them LIVE - check out that card here. Well, with the supplies out, it made sense to carry on and make another card, especially knowing that I have a Monochromatic Monday post scheduled for today.
In the LIVE, Susan shared her "lazy stamper" tip (haha, she won't mind me calling her lazy stamper).
Those backing stickers on the cling stamps make good mask! I always keep mine anyway though I know many people throw them out. But I have never used them for masking so thank you Susan for that tip! So, position the mask in the middle of the small Very Vanilla card. Use a Blending Brush to sponge on the Pumpkin Pie ink as desired. With the Blending Brush, you are in control, whether you want a pastel orange or a deep burnt orange. A word of caution, just wipe clean ready for another colour. Don't wet it under the tap - I ended up tearing mine, oops!
Have you got these decorative masks? They are very handy to have in your supplies, and the great news is that they are great value for money. I used placed the one on the bottom right which is a kind of swirly ornate pattern, on top of the larger Very Vanilla card stock layer. Use the Blending Brush to sponge on the ink, remove and you have added this gorgeous pattern on to your card.
On my card, you can see the vellum peeking out of the Poppy layer. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Turtle Friends stamp set. The gold trim is from the Simply Elegant Trim pack and wahoo - Mystery Challenge complete!
The Very Vanilla layer with the Basic Pattern Decorative Mask was slightly long, so rather than waste the excess slice, I used it to decorate the inside of the card. Simple yet effective.
Hope you like my share today xx
