Hearts Decorative Mask Heard From the Heart

As promised, this is the card that I had in my head but turned out to be the Festive Flurry Heard From The Heart one I blogged about last night. The Pool Party sentiment in that card was much too pale for the Pool Party sponged hearts so I changed the design. This one though turned out pretty much as I had imagined it. The sentiment was embossed in gold and the hearts were sponged in my all time favourite In-Colours collection. I was excited to experiment with the new Decorative Masks, and I gotta say, I am pretty happy with this result!

I love the soft look created with the vellum. I had used the Crystal Effects to adhere the top only to the card stock, and I am pretty happy that the strip of glue is hidden enough under the Vellum.

The supplies used to create this card are listed below - just click on the item to order it directly from my online store, or email your order to me at peppertime123@gmail.com. The only thing not listed is the retired Heard From the Heart stamp set.

Festive Flurry Heard from The Heart

Ever had a card in mind that does not turn out at all the way you imagined it? Oh well, after much deliberation, I present to you the end result, as seen in the picture above, which is rather different to the one in my head :-)

I started out this card with playing with the new Stampin' Up! Hearts Decorative Mask. The hearts inspired me to dust off the retired Heard From The Heart stamp set. I also wanted to experiment with using the Crystal Effects to glue down vellum on card stock - this was in response to a friend and customer's query as to what is the best adhesive to use with vellum so that it doesn't show through?
(And YES, I would recommend using Crystal Effects as the adhesive for Vellum.)

So the idea was to have the sponged hearts on the Whisper White card stock, then the sentiment embossed on the vellum which is then adhered over the top of the Whisper White card stock. I haven't yet used the Pool Party Emboss Powder which I have had in storage for some time now, so that was my first pick of colour, and oh my, I l.o.v.e. the result of the Pool Party embossed on the vellum. It is very delicately subtle however, so it was kinda lost when placed over the Pool Party sponged hearts on the Whisper White.

Please excuse the colour of the photo above, but when I used the flash on the camera, this card was a  brilliant glare so in the end I chose to take the photo without the flash. Basically I wanted to show you that I thought it too plain just to layer the vellum over the plain Whisper White, even though in my mind I thought it would look quite elegant.

It took a lot of trying this and that to finally arrive at the design that I am happy with, which was the very first picture you saw in this post. I think it lifted the card without taking away the focus of the Pool Party embossed sentiment.

In case you were wondering, yes, I had stamped the image of the largest Snowflake from the Festive Flurry stamp set in Versamark on Clear Window sheet and then embossed with White Emboss Powder. The smaller snowflake was clear embossed on window sheet also, then embellished with Silver Glitter and finished off with the jewel rhinsteones. Both the snowflakes were actually just in the pile of snowflakes I made last year which never got used so it was awesome that they came in handy for this card.

So, who wants this card sent to them for Christmas this year? :-)

Stay tuned for the next post in which I will show you the idea that I had originally for this card, which I think I manage to pull off using a different colour scheme.

PS: Remember, the Festive Flurry stamp set and co-ordinating dies are available only till 27th August 2014.

Feminine Gorgeous Grunge

This was the third card in my Friday's Craft Night' Gorgeous Grunge Feature. Would you have thought to create something like this with a stamp set called Grunge? Ha, I didn't...so lest you thought I came up with this design... I CASEd (Copy and Share Everything) it from Sam Donald of Pootles Papercraft fame. I love how she pulled together the Grunge and the Petite Petals together...her card was perfect as it was, so why re-invent the wheel, right? Judging by the popularity of this card at my July's Friday night, it seems everyone agrees :-)

There is one minor point of difference - I used Chunky Glass Glitter for the centre of the flowers instead of rhinestones. Just because I have them and I really wanted to use them. I also didn't have Sahara Sand card stock to co-ordinate with the Sahara Sand ink splatters, but I think we got away with the Crumb Cake card stock. I have seen the twine thread trend lately in the card making world, and it really does add interest to a card.

Thanks for visiting and I sure hope you are loving the absolutely versatile Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

Hmm, I think I will now finally get the 1" square which has been on my wish list for some time. I have been making do with using the paper trimmer to cut out 1" squares, but it would be far easier just to use a punch!

Gorgeous Grunge Playschool

This is the Play school way of using this very versatile stamp set.  Like the super grunge card, I have used the new, 2014-16, In-Colours. The top row is the first generation of the ink. Instead of re-inking I stamped off the second row and then again the third row. Look at that, if you thought these colours were too regal for you, then all you need to do is stamp off. The more pastel shade might be more suited to you?

Originally I just wanted the splatters. However, I had turned over the Whisper White layer to re-use but the mistake on the underside was showing through, so I had to "mask" it with the lines stamp from the same set. I guess it gives the play school a grunge flavour :-)

Gorgeous Grunge - Grunge 21st

This is one of the Gorgeous Grunge cards I made for this month's Friday Night Stampin' Session. I said on my Facebook business page that we are doing a product feature on Gorgeous Grunge, and asked my FB viewers if they can imagine the possibilities of this stamp set from Grunge style (as expected) to the feminine, christmas to the play school? Can you?

I have used all five of the new In-Colours, which I mentioned in my previous post. And can you spot one other new product from this year's catalogue that I have used?
It is the Alphabet Rotary stamp, which I used to stamp the "Happy Birthday" sentiment repeatedly on the circle behind the "21".

Now, I am excited to see if anyone coming to Friday Night's Stampin' Session will choose this card style, and if so, their interpretation of this card. It could be popular because it is masculine, and most of us struggle with making masculine cards, so this would be perfect to add to the ready-on-hand stash :-)

The table of products has been added for your convenience, should you decide you must really have that product :-) Remember to use my current Hostess Code (on the right hand column of this page) if you wish to click on the images above and buy via my online store. Next post I will show you a different look that can be achieved with this same stamp set.

Happy Stampin'!
