Stampin' Up! Just My Type Hello Card

This week, our product highlight is the Just My Type (photopolymer stamp set). Read on to find out why today's card was not what I imagined when I started the process of making it!     Click here for the Supplies List for this Card   I had a layout in my mind that looked something like this: My first thought would be to use pattern paper for the panel behind the top layer, so feeling adventurous, I decided to do the unexpected - ie instead of using pattern paper, I stamped three rows of Hello. But when I tried to layer the top with a rectangle piece or with the typewriter, it just did not look right. At this point, I very nearly banish the stamped card base to the #scrappile. However, I wondered, why not stamp a few more rows of Hello. I loved the result! So, while I started with a sketch layout, I changed course along the way, following a new inspiration :-) As for the colours, it's not a combination that I would have come up with. I was looking at the project samples on

Stampin' Up! Just My Type CASE The Catalogue Card

This week, our product highlight is the Just My Type (photopolymer stamp set).     Click here for the Supplies List for this card   Let's take a look again at the project I CASED (Copy And Selectively Edited) from the Annual Catalogue designed by Cindy Schuster. Click here for the Supplies List for this card Make your own pattern paper by repeatedly stamp an image or more. Here I have stamped the typewriter image with versamark ink on a pattern paper from the Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper . I heat embossed the images with clear embossing powder, then ink the entire piece with the Blueberry Bushel Ink Pad. This is a technique called Joseph's Coat Colouring Technique and you can see how it is done here. The typewriter now has a almost copper look to it.  Going with the typewriter vibe, I repeatedly stamp Happy Birthday (from Sentimental Park stamp set ) on a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut "sunshine" out of the stamped sentiment in Crushed Curry.

Stampin' Up! Textured Floral Every Thought of You Card

Here is the second card I shared in my Textured Floral Class To Go today - you can watch the replay over on my YouTube channel .     Click here for the Supplies List for this card. I made this card while watching and learning from some of the best Stampin' Up! Concept Artists - check them out to learn some design and card making tips and be inspired! Did you know about the Stampin' Up! Color Coach ? It is a most useful resource when you are not sure what colours to use. The colour inspiration for this card came directly from the Color Coach. I chose the second suggestion: Soft Sea Foam, Moody Mauve and Crumb Cake.   Here in this next picture you can see two different versions - one is a little stepped up (meaning more products used) from the other.  Free Offer : Four Make & Take Kits (two of each card design) for this class when you place a minimum order of $40 with me this week. Orders must be placed by the end of Friday 28th July and use my Hostcode MBVSWPMU. Click h

Stampin' Up! Textured Floral Birthday Blooms Card

Here is the first card I shared in my Textured Floral Class To Go today - you can watch the replay over on my YouTube channel .     Click here for the Supplies List for this card   I love this colour combo and Ellen Woodbridge card so much that after spotting it on Pinterest, I went to my stamp desk to recreate the card, based on the picture. It wasn't until I have finished copying the card that I saw that Ellen had made a video showing how she created this card in real time with her FB live audience (that's brave!) I got a few things "wrong" - such as the buds on the top left were Crushed Curry, but I had used Pecan Pie in mine. I also thought she had gold embossed the splatters, which she didn't. These were the two major changes that I didn't intentionally make. Now, I wasn't sure about matting the card front on a white card base, so I intentionally change it to a Lemon Lolly card base. But, as you will see in the video, I had stamped two card fronts

Stampin' Up! Textured Floral Bundle with Alcohol Blending

This week our product highlight is the Textured Floral Bundle of stamp set and dies. Today's card is a Clean and Simple card with a fun technique that is Alcohol Ink Blending. Click here for the Supplies List for this card I made a short video to demonstrate the alcohol ink blending technique , so I hope you find it helpful. I share some tips here for a successful alcohol ink blending experience:    1. Stabilize the vellum with a card stock to prevent it from buckling from contact with liquid  2. The higher the alcohol content of the isopropyl alcohol (some say minimum 70%) the better results you will get  3. You can add more alcohol marker and isopropyl alcohol to achieve your desired look  4. You can tap on the isopropyl alcohol to create the droplets effect Introducing the Textured Floral Bundle of Stamp Set and Dies   Textured Floral Bundle  Be sure to check back daily this week for more projects using the Textured Floral Bundle . Stampin' Up! Trucking Along with Bright & Beautiful Memories and More Card Pack

Here is the second card I shared in my Trucking Along Class To Go this week - you can watch the replay over on my YouTube channel .     Click here for the Supplies List for this card   Now, let me digress a bit at this point. I often get asked how I come up with ideas for card making. Firstly, when I was new to card making, I listened to the advice of Catherine Pooler, a highly regarded card maker, to copy copy copy. Learn by doing, and over time and along the way, you will learn much about card design and colour play. I am a much more confident card maker now than when I started, for sure. And I haven't stopped copying! Let me show you now the inspiration for my card today.    Can you see the similarity of my card to Stampin' Up! Artisan Monique De Kok's card? I didn't make her card, but I sure was inspired by it! I CASE-d (Copy and Selectively Edited).    Secondly, participate in challenges. Challenges set some boundaries so we have less decision making ie less ov

Stampin' Up! Trucking Along Happy Birthday Card

Here is the first card I shared in my Trucking Along Class To Go today - you can watch the replay over on my YouTube channel .  Click here for the Supplies List for this card   This is a very CAS (Clean and Simple) card. I was going for a "art gallery" look so I resisted very hard to not put any ribbon or embellishments on it :-)   In the video class, I decided to use a different colour, Parakeet Party for the truck. I think it will be great to make a series of this card in all the different colours you fancy on a truck!   Free Offer : Four Make & Take Kits (two of each card design) for this class when you place a minimum order of $40 with me this week. Orders must be placed by the end of Friday 21st July and use my Hostcode MBVSWPMU.
