It's Your Day Card

I made this card from supplies that didn't make it on previous cards, hence #scrapsoffthedesk     I love rummaging through my scraps to put together a card - it's kinda like putting a puzzle together. Also, I feel it can be quite liberating! For example, I would never have intentionally put those twine together (see it peeking out behind the Rich Razzleberry daisy flower?) Somehow, it feels ok to experiment with colour combinations when I make a card with scraps off the desk. To be fair, when I say "scraps" I don't mean rubbish. It just means things I may have cut out to use when making another card, that I decided not to use in favour of a different colour or a different shape. Or like in the case of that Misty Moonlight stripe piece,  it is the remaining piece from which I cut out a small piece for my Global Design Project Winning Card here . There are a few things on this card that is on the retiring list. I'm gonna miss the Large Daisy Punch so if you hav

Cinnamon Cider Hello Card with Encircled In Beauty Dies

Cinnamon Cider for today's Monochromatic Monday Card as it is retiring!      A simple way to create a fun background is to use Sponge Daubers to make circle prints. So that my Basic White diecut from Encircled in Beauty Dies stand out more, I placed a Cinnamon Cider square under it. Hello sentiment is from Forever Fern stamp set - all that white space around the word just gave it so much attention. I couldn't resist putting a Brushed Brass Butterfly (say that quickly, how many times can you say it?!!!) on it as an accent. To give the background some interest, I used a technique Stampin' Up! Concept Artist Melody Hyde showed us recently. I couldn't find my decorative masks, so I used the floral die from Artistic Die set as a mask. Place it on the circle dots background card stock, then spritz some water on it. Once dried, as you can see, the Cinnamon Cider circles are marbled. This is such a fun card to do and easily replicable in any colour of your choice. What colour

Tasteful Touches in Magenta Madness for Monochromatic Monday

Magenta Madness is one of the five In-Colors that will be retiring in early May 2022. Click here for Supplies List An easy way to make a monochromatic card is stamping an image multiple times to create a background. Even quicker if, as in this case, the backgound is already done - it was a 4x6 printed card from the retired Flowers for Every Season Memories and More Card pack.    Magenta Madness is rather "in your face" bright, so I have added three vellum strips (these were in the #scrapsoffthedesk pile) to add some softness to the card. The sentiment is from Tasteful Touches stamp set, embossed in white on plain Magenta Madness cardstock.  Why Monochromatic Monday? Did you know Stampin' Up! offers at least 50 colours for all your creative work? All with coordinating card stock, ink pads and markers, and some/most with Stampin' Blends, ribbons and embellishments. Take a look at the range of colours!   In 2022, my personal challenge is to feature one colour each wee

In Good Taste for Global Design Project Sketch Challenge #GDP334

Today's project was inspired by the Global Design Project Sketch Challenge this week. Click here for Supplies List     Over at Global Design Project , the challenge this week is to make a card using the following sketch:       I have strips of In Good Taste papers left over from another project, so I pieced them together here on a Soft Sea Foam card stock but Frugal Tip: Cut the fern image from Forever Flourishing Dies (#152714) out of the soft sea foam cardstock first! The label dies are cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies (#152886)and the Hello sentiment is from the Forever Fern stamp set (#152559). Emboss the larger label with Tasteful Textiles 3d Embossing Folder (#152718) for added interest. Finally, add some gems for a sparkly finish on the card. I like mixing my gems! Here I have used the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels (#155571) as well as Polished Dots (#158134). Do head on over to Global Design Project for lots of ways to interpret this sketch! Thank you for stopping by today. As

Pierced Blooms Die and Happiest Birthday in Shaded Spruce

Here's another simple stamping card and also suitable for the guys in our lives.     Click here for list of supplies   In making my happy fun cards last week , I had cut out these "compound" leaves from the Pierced Blooms Dies in Shaded Spruce card stock . Tip: keep in mind when you cut shapes using dies that you can always use the negatives too, so be strategic when cutting the shapes. I was quite intentional when I cut the leaves out to not cut too close to the edges so that I can use it as a frame. The resulting "negative" is what you see on the card today. The sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays was simply stamped in Shade Spruce ink and then the entire front panel is embossed with Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder . As always, if you have any questions, I am happy to help you. Until next post, have fun stamping! *** For current specials, click this link https://michellepepper.stampinup.net/special *** Shop online with me today and use the current M

Stamps, Ink and Paper Card Kits

Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.   Sentimental Rose Card Kit When you read you begin with ABC, when you sing you begin with Do-Re-Mi, when you stamp you begin with SIP - Stamps, Ink and Paper! New to stamping? Best way to learn is experience; do it; stamp. Get along to a Stamping class - I'd love to have you come along to my classes if you are in Auckland, New Zealand. If you can't get along to an in-person class, then get one of Stampin' Up!'s Kit Collections, especially the All Inclusive Kits that come with Basic Stamping Tools such as a clear block, stamps, ink and adhesives.  Other than the adhesives which are consumables you will need to replenish, the stamps, ink and block are the basic items you need to complete future card kits and card making (and scrapbooking/memory keeping) projects! My favourite in the current range of All Inclusive Kits Collection is the Sentimental Rose Card Kit as shown above. Actually, it is quite hard t

Blossoms in Bloom in Shaded Spruce for Monochromatic Monday

Today's Monochromatic Card is in Shaded Spruce. I think this card is one that is suitable for the guys.     Click here for supplies list   I love taking a small image from a stamp set to make it the focal point of a card. See this card here that  I made in February .  Today, the small image is from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set . I had to go back to lessons on leaf shapes haha - there are three small leave images in the stamp set so I needed to be able to describe which one! It is the leaf with lobed edges.  This card was inspired by one that Melody Hyde made recently. Melody is a Stampin' Up! Concept Artist, and I just love her cards! The background was made with the leaf stamped in a radial pattern in Shaded Spruce ink .  The embossed panel is embossed with the vine folder from the Greenery Embossing Folders and the sentiment from Biggest Wish stamp set was white embossed on Shaded Spruce card stock .   As always, if you have any questions, I am happy to help you. Why Mon

Pierced Blooms Happy Birthday

Oh this card makes me so happy! Click here for the supplies list We have a fun colour challenge this week from Stampin' Up! Concept Artist Team. #conceptartcreativechallenge Daffodil Delight, Polished Pink and Pool Party - can't go wrong with this combo! There were two additional colours in the challenge, Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce. For my card, I found the solid colour in Shaded Spruce cardstock a bit too heavy so I cut the leaves out in Basic White using dies from the Pierced Blooms Dies set then watercolour with Shaded Spruce.          There are 25 die pieces in Pierced Blooms - but what you might not realised is that they are so much fun with piercings in them as seen on the card. You can pair these dies with just about any sentiments!   If this card looks somewhat familiar - well, it might be because I CASED myself - haha! See the previous card I shared here .  Why re-invent the wheel right?     Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you get lots of crafty tim

Painted Poppies for Global Design Project Colour Challenge #GDP333

I am so excited to be a Guest Designer for the Global Designer Project this week!    Over at GDP, it's a colour challenge this week : I love these colours individually, but confession: together as a combo, I did find it tricky indeed! I am happy now, to have pushed through out of my comfort zone.   I decided to use White Watercolour Pencil to create some softness on my Balmy Blue flowers from Painted Poppies. I die cut the leaves out of the Poppy Moments Dies in white then watercoloured with Garden Green. I used a Memories and More 3x4 card (retired) for the centre piece as it was in the right Mint Macaron colour but that is easily replicable by embossing in White your choice of sentiment then colour wash the background with Mint Macaron. Bonus! I have a few elements that were either already in or about to go into the #scrapsoffthedesk pile - well, I was inspired to put together another card:     Have you done this lately - put together a card from scraps or things you cut

Many Layered Blossoms Dies in Bumblebee for Monochromatic Monday

Today's Monochromatic Monday card is all about Bumblebee.   Click here for supplies list  There's actually a lot going on here in this card so let's dive straight into the deets!   Firstly, the inspiration for my card is from Global Design Project Challenge #GDP332 . It's a CASE challenge ie Copy and Selectively Edit.  I love CASE challenges because some of the design work have been done for you. You could be inspired by the colours, the layout, the stamp set, or any other elements that were used in the original card. And, Kim Fee, the designer we are CASEing has this incredible tip to share, so if you are new to CASEing or card making in general, I hope this is helpful to you.  If you are new to card making, please know there is no shame in CASE, CASE, CASE. Even, if you make the exact same card. It is one of the best ways to learn! For example, do you sit your young child in front of the piano and expect him to play a masterpiece or an original score? Of course not! H
