Painted Poppies in Poppy Parade For Monochromatic Monday

When I thought to feature Poppy Parade for Monochromatic Monday, I reached out for the much loved yet neglected Painted Poppies stamp set .   Click here for Supplies List   I paired it with the fabulous Go To Greetings Stamp set , making use of the fancy script font for these beautiful cards. Tips:    1) Missing the right colour ribbon to coordinate with your project? Did you know you can colour ribbons with Stampin' Blends? For the Just A Note card, I have coloured the White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon with Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends .       2) Even though the mini embossing folders are smaller than standard card size, it can still be used effectively. The Stripes folder from the Stripes and Splatters set added a lovely texture and interest to the Just A Note card. 3) Create a simple background by stamping images in the same colour as the card stock, as seen in the Happy Birthday card.     ps: the poppies in the card above was coloured ...

Cup of Tea in Cajun Craze for Monochromatic Monday

When I think Cajun Craze colour, I think of Autumn, so Fall leaves, acorns, and nature.   Click here for the Supplies List   In a moment of contrary, I went against the flow. Instead I chose to work with Cup of Tea Bundle, not your typical choice of stamps for the warm Cajun Craze colour. I think it works! And I think the reason it works shows the power of a Monochromatic design: simple, classic and cohesion.  Source: https://www.pixpa.com/blog/monochromatic-colors   Why Monochromatic Monday?   Did you know Stampin' Up! offers at least 50 colours for all your creative work? All with coordinating card stock, ink pads and markers, and some/most with Stampin' Blends, ribbons and embellishments. Take a look at the range of colours!     In 2022, my personal challenge is to feature one colour each week on Monochromatic Monday. I hope you will join me too, and use the #monochromaticmondaycard hashtag too.   As always, if you have any questions, I am h...

Give It A Whirl Die meets Go To Greetings in Balmy Blue for Monochromatic Monday

How about a game of noughts and crosses, or rather, hearts?     Click here for Supplies list   Last month, we were finally able to throw a surprise birthday party for my Dad's 80th which didn't happen last year because of the enforced C19 lockdowns. Dad received a lot of greeting cards, and I noticed that all are oversized - well, they are very much bigger than the size I make my handmade cards in. So I was inspired to make an oversized card. The finished size of this card is 6"x6". I know if you are mailing the cards, it increases the postage stamp cost, so if you are on a strict budget, probably best to keep these bigger cards for people you will be handing the cards to in person.  I believe the Give It A Whirl Dies , with 21 dies in the set, is currently the most popular SU dies in our Annual Catalogue. It has lots of useful shapes that are handy for projects for any occasion. Definitely a recommended set of dies to have in a crafter's collection.  Thank you ...

DIY Card Kit with Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper

For my latest add to my DIY Kits, I have chosen to feature the Perfectly Penciled papers.     For more general information about the DIY Card Kits I offer, please click here.     The Perfectly Penciled DSP is the "little black dress" you ought to have in your stamping supplies. At the very least, get this kit and you will easily make six classic black and white cards for any occasion. Just like the little black dress, you can easily step up these cards by adding colour to the penciled line images. I love and highly recommend using our Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers) - check out the entire range of colours you get to choose from. Now, I get ya: it can be overwhelming as you may want them all but there's a budget to keep to...sigh... My suggestion is get a green (perhaps the Old Olive Stampin' Blends ) and then your favourite flower colour. You may not have realised, but my design for this kit is so that you may, if you choose to, use the Spotlight technique ie c...

Dots and Spots Die in Daffodil Delight for Monochromatic Monday

Polka-dot-printed fashion is about as iconic as it comes, and it appears this timeless favourite is making a resurgence this coming summer! Oh well, I'll test it out on a card here first 😁 Click here for Supplies List     I love the Dots and Spots Die (#159164) for the fun and whimsy background it easily adds to any project. Try it in your favourite Stampin' Up! Colour (see below for all the colours available on my online shop ). Three small card making tips to add interest to your project when card making: 1) The Stitched Rectangle Dies (#151820) are what I call a very useful basic item to have. It isn't cheap but it is valuable - you will use it in plenty projects! Of course, you can just use a rectangle piece, but by using the dies, you have these detailed stitched marks that anyone would think you have the patience of a saint to make them by hand 😁. 2) You could stamp the floral image straight on the white rectangle piece, but by cutting it out and adhering on ...
