Best way to learn is experience; do it; stamp. Get along to a Stamping class - I'd love to have you come along to my classes if you are in Auckland, New Zealand.
If you can't get along to an in-person class, then get one of Stampin' Up!'s Kit Collections, especially the All Inclusive Kits that come with Basic Stamping Tools such as a clear block, stamps, ink and adhesives. Other than the adhesives which are consumables you will need to replenish, the stamps, ink and block are the basic items you need to complete future card kits and card making (and scrapbooking/memory keeping) projects!
