Awesome Otters Valentine Notecard

Oughta, utterly, otterly - do you like playing with words?

This is my first card starring the Awesome Otters stamp set - Free with every order of $110 (NZD, before shipping) during the January/February 2022 Sale-a-bration period.

This card by Chris Lang caught my attention so I set about to CASE it (Copy and Selectively Edit).
Trivia: Did you know that stampers love it when you copy their work? It is true, stampers love to inspire, that's why we share our work.

The heart in the background gave me the idea for making a Valentine's card. Now I don't have the heart stamp, but it is easy enough to create a stencil. I took one of the many used envelopes on my desk to cut out a hand drawn heart shape.

I then used my red-ish/pink-ish Blending Brush (in other words, I hadn't washed or cleaned it from whenever I used it last. It looks like it was Polished Pink) to sponge the heart shape onto a notecard.

The huggable otter was coloured with Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends on a piece Basic White card stock then fussy cut out. I wanted to say, "You are otterly my Valentine", so I looked through my stamp sets and picked out the various stamps. I stamped them in Versamark ink onto Basic Black card stock and embossed in white - then it was snip snip snip to arrange the words accordingly. A bit of twine and some bling (don't be afraid to mix sequins and rhinestones as I have done) are just the finishing touches for this cute little notecard.

So, contrary to the notion I have been raised with ie that Valentine's Day is for lovers, it seems sweethearts are only fifth in the rankings of who gets the most Valentine's Day cards!!!!

Do you give out Valentine's Day cards?

Even if we're not convinced about calling someone other than our significant Other our Valentine, perhaps we could use the Feb 14 occasion to prompt us to send a card to tell our loved ones that we love them. You could make the card I suggested above and simply used the sentiment as is: "You are otterly awesome" is perfect!

Let me know if you want help making a few of these cards. I am happy to make to order too. Did you know I sell my handmade cards from $4 each...

Until next post, have fun stamping!
