Timeless Tropical Birthday Card #thecraftycarrotco

January is always a great time to re-stock on birthday cards.

This was a fun card to make, and I am so proud of myself for making this card during The Crafty Carrot Collective 5th Birthday Bash Facebook live today! We learned in that Live that it is quite normal for Krista Frattin to make 20 cards in a week - gulp! I wanna be a prolific stamper like her.

This is gonna be a bit of a plug for The Crafty Carrot Collective - I love this group. There are so many tips and tricks to learn from these ladies - why don't you check out their January Live which is free here. Besides all the stamping knowledge you pick up from them, you will just love the community vibe they have cultivated.

On the Live today, we had a Mystery Challenge:

Use orange + vellum + birthday stamp + ribbon/twine

My orange Hibiscus is from Timeless Tropical stamp set (#151497). I stamped it in Tuxedo Black Memento (#132708) then coloured it with Stampin' Blends in Calypso Coral (#154881) and Pale Papaya (#155519).

I wanted a single line birthday sentiment, so I couldn't use the one in the Timeless Tropical stamp set. I chose one from the Timeless Tulips stamp set (#158327).

My vellum layer (#106584) was embossed with the Greenery embossing folder (#152716) and the twine I used is the Linen Thread (#104199). Of course I had to put some bling and the Artistry Blooms Sequins (#152477) were just perfect for the card!

I grabbed a couple of strips from my #scrapoffthedesk pile - I think it just grounds the flower a little, making it not appear floating.

Krista also mentioned she does not do naked card inners (lol at that expression) . I try to stamp on the inside as well as on the envelope but sometimes I just don't. Well, for this card, I can't NOT stamp on the inside after she said that!

There was a little oopsie, but maybe you wouldn't even know. I pressed a little too hard so there was a little stamp outline mark. What to do, what to do? Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Marker to the rescue - I drew a little leaf - can you spot it?

Stampin' Up! sells these markers by colour family instead of individually - you will find the Calypso Coral Marker in the Subtles Family Markers (#147156).

Thanks for visiting today and I hope you will go make a card based on this card that I have shared today.

Until next post, have fun stamping!
